About the Game
Engage in epic Real Time Strategy warfare across the Atlantic, Pacific and Mediterranean, this is naval warfare on a global scale.
It is World War II and the age of the dreadnoughts has passed and naval warfare is being dominated by Aircraft Carriers. Submarines hunt convoys like wolves and the numerous and nimble destroyers rule the oceans.
Destroy enemy battleships, torpedo enemy convoys and hunt the enemy wherever you may find them.
Advance through the naval ranks from a Captain of a Destroyer to an Admiral of a vast fleet. Win medals for your exploits, and help your chosen nation achieve victory in each campaign.
Plan your own strategy
In Victory At Sea your destiny is in your hands. Once in the campaign what you do next is up to you.
+ Harass enemy shipping to starve their ports of vital supplies.
+ Destroy the enemy patrols and weaken their defences.
+ Defend your friendly convoys and keep your supply lines open.
+ Lead an assault force with landing craft to capture enemy ports.
+ Go on covert operations.
+ Complete special missions.
With over 80 classes of ship and hundreds of ports there are a multitude of playing options. Will you build your fleet around the terrifying firepower of the battleships, sneak around with a submarine wolf pack or look to dominate the skies with carriers?
A combination of sandbox elements and the deadly combat of RTS naval warfare ensures a vast number of possibilities. Slow the action down or speed it up with the time slider, allowing you to command multiple ships quickly and effectively during huge battles. Weather conditions and time of day are also major factors in the game. Will it help or hamper you? Combat at night can be an intense experience.
Other combat Modes
Victory at Sea also offers the chance to experience some of World War II's most famous battles in Historical Battles or create your own custom battles from small skirmishes to epic conflicts, choosing from Axis or Allied fleets with ships from 6 playable nations to choose from.

Fun to watch

I like to watch the AI mode and how it is done yet, I would like a chance to fire the weapons and I still can not
get right click to work. When I got to a port, am not able to see what happens due to computer crash.
The game so far is very well developed otherwise, and I would like to see what happens if all functionality become avalible to me.
Contacted the developer and as of yet, have not received guidance.
Really want this one to continue along the path started and hope that ETA continues to develop this game.

FANTASTIC

I still play this game, It’s great and everything, But I noticed that V 1.4 came out for Steam. Will this come out for OSX? Its had a lot of cool fixes, and additions. And I don’t want to pay for it again on steam ;p

Good Game

The good. The two most important things, the game works great (had one minor glitch that was easy to fix; technical help is quick to respond) and I have been playing it a lot. Good quick fun semi historical “beer and pretzels” (war gamer term) WW2 naval war game. The AI is reasonable (AI controled ships will avoid torpedoes without you telling them to) and you are given the choice to control all, one, or even none of your ships, and you can change your choices during combat. You can play any of the major beligerants (and even the not so major.) If you want a good quick easy to play sail around the ocean shooting it up with the enemy, this is it.
The not so good. If your looking for a super realistic historical simulation of WW2 naval combat, this isn’t it. Submarines are way too easy to see and way too easy to sink. Depth charges and hedge hogs can shoot almost as far as small guns, no need to set up depth chage runs, just get in the vicinity of the sub. You never loose sight of the sub no matter how fast you move. Torpedoes are always visible, even at night, from the moment they are launched. All torpedo bearing ships have infinate reloads, and, even if much slower than guns, you usually are able to launch torpedoes three or more time during a battle. (In real warfare of the time, reloading torpedoes during battle was rare; maybe the designers had to do this because of the relative ease of avoiding torpedoes that are always visible.) From a gamer point of view, one of the most annoying things is sometimes scenario information is right in your main field of view and you have to kind of look sideways at things to see the enemy ships. You are sometimes given missions to complete that are literally impossible to do; on the other hand, not doing the mission seems to have no negative impact so, what’s the point? Would like to have more historical scenarios, or even some what if’s.
Even though “not so good” appears to be longer than 'the good” this is just because of explinations. It’s a good game; if you have any interest in period warfare games, buy it.
