Dying Light Pc Mods
'Uneven' is probably the best way to describe Dying Light's performance and appearance on PC. Some players report a smooth experience from start to finish, some complain of random and intermittent FPS drops (as I experience, even after the latest patch from Techland), some are unhappy with the film grain or other visual aspects, and others may simply want to tweak the game's settings for a more enjoyable experience in general. Here are a few options.
Dying Light Manager
PC gamers making mods for the newly launched zombie game Dying Light have run into a serious problem. It seems the game's creators are now blocking any attempts to modify it. Patch 1.2.1, released. Release Dying Light The Following Hacks/Mods By. (Swimming, running, crouching and jumping-Warning not for slow pc's) - Durable Weapons. As of version 0.18.5, our new mod manager Vortex now supports modding for all of the above games meaning you can use Vortex to mod 59 different games total. Moreover, multi-variant mods - that’s mods that give you multiple options, such as different colours for armour replacers etc. for many games, including the above (with the exception.
Your first (and possibly only) stop should be the Dying Light Manager and Performance Booster, a utility created by modder vismxownz. It's a great tool that, when launched, gives you a ton of options you can activate or deactivate simply by ticking boxes. Some of this stuff can be altered in Dying Light's actual options menu, but a lot of it can't.
As you can see, there are a number of options for improving your performance by disabling certain aspects of the game, especially various shadows and effects. There are also ways to improve your visuals by disabling film grain and chromatic aberration. You can also turn off the HUD completely, which will make playing a bit more difficult but lets you take some great screenshots without all the clutter.
You can download the latest version from nexusmods (it takes you to a mediafire download page). Extract the .exe file, and run it as an administrator. Make sure you click the 'Enable Mods' button in the lower right.
If you're looking to make some small tweaks you can do some of what the Dying Light Manager allows, either manually or by using a couple of other mods.
Disable Intro Movies
When you start Dying Light, you're presented with a number of intro screens: logos for Warner Brothers, Techland, and Nvidia, the statement that the characters are all fictional, and the game's introductory movie. They're skippable by repeatedly hitting the 'Enter' key, but why not turn them off altogether? Here's how:
- In your Steam library, right-click on Dying Light.
- Select 'Properties', then select 'Set Launch Options'.
- In the box, type '-nologos', then press 'OK'.

Disable Film Grain
I don't know why so many developers are enamored with film grain, and while I don't find it particularly distracting in Dying Light, you may feel otherwise and want to turn it off for a cleaner look at the world.
- Using a file archiver like 7-Zip, open the file 'Data0.pak', which can be found in SteamsteamappscommonDying LightDW.
- Inside Data0.pak, open the 'data' folder, then the 'scripts' folder. Look for 'varlist_noise.scr'.
- Extract varlist_noise.scr to 'DocumentsDyingLightoutdatascripts'.
- Using notepad or another text editor, open varlist_noise.scr.
- Look for the line 'VarFloat ('f_noise', 0.15)', and change the '0.15' to '0'.

There's also a lone mod for it here. It was unaffected by Techland's 1.2.1 patch.
Disable Sun Shadows
Shadows, while making your game look more realistic, can slow down your performance a bit. If you don't mind the visual downgrade, you can turn off sun shadows off to squeeze a few extra frames per second out of Dying Light.
- Go to DocumentsDyingLightdatascripts
- Using notepad or another text editor, open 'varlist_performance.scr'.
- On the line 'VarInt ('i_shadows_sun_on', 1)', change the '1' to '0'.

Disable Chromatic Aberration
If you're not a fan of some of the visual distortion in Dying Light, you can disable it. It generally shows up as a smear of colors around the edges of objects or characters.
This lone mod will disable it. You need to have antialiasing and motion blur enabled in-game for the mod to work.

[UPDATE] Techland issued a statement to GameSpot on Monday explaining the issue, and noting that it is currently working on another patch that will re-enable modding. The full statement is below.
'With the recent patch (1.2.1) on Steam we blocked cheating to make sure the game's PvP system (Be The Zombie) would not be abused. This, however, had the side-effect of hindering mod-makers from making changes to the game.'
'Creating obstacles for modders has never been our intention. We are now working on a quick patch that will re-enable common tweaks while stopping cheating in the game's multiplayer mode.'
'At Techland, we have always supported the mod community, and loved seeing how our own game can be changed by the players. A big part of the original Dead Island's success was the passion and creativity of mod-makers from our community. We want the same for Dying Light.'
The original story is below.
A new patch for the PC version of recently released open-world zombie game Dying Light restricts fan mods, gamers are reporting. The official 1.2.1 patch notes explain that Dying Light's data files have been changed in an effort to curb cheating, but it appears this measure also blocks user mods.
A handful of popular mods are experiencing problems after the patch, including one which allowed players to disable Dying Light's film grain. This mod was removed in the wake of an anti-piracy claim from the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) through the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DCMA).
'Among other things, we can no longer create or edit items for the single-player campaign,' one person writes on Reddit.
It's unclear, however, if the DCMA claim comes from Dying Light developer Techland or the game's publisher, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, or both. Warner Bros. is a member of the ESA. It's also possible that there has been a misunderstanding, though Techland has not yet commented publicly on the matter, and we're awaiting a response from the studio about the situation.
Reddit users point out that if Techland is indeed purposefully blocking Dying Light fan mods, it would be a major change of form for the developer. That's because the studio's previous work, Dead Island, fully supported mods. Furthermore, Techland's next game, the hack-and-slash game Hellraid, actually started out as a Dead Island mod itself.
The Dead Island series is published by Deep Silver, which is also a member of the ESA.
Dying Light Pc Modded Fov Not Working
Dying Light is a single-player game, and fans are writing that they are especially distressed at the restriction of mods because it lowers the replayability of the game. Indeed, mods are often seen as a way to continue enjoying a game months or even years after release; just ask Skyrim fans.
In other recent Dying Light news, Techland recently reached out to gamers to remind them to download the game's launch-day patch, which, among other things, 'introduces various enhancements, changes, and updates of various influence, affecting the gameplay, performance, and many other aspects of our game.'
Dying Light Mods For Xbox
'In essence, when you are playing an unpatched version of Dying Light, you are playing a different game,' Techland further explained. This patch is available across all platforms--Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
