Where Can I Buy A Aa12 Automatic Shotgun

At some point, it seems that Cornils moved on from Military Police Systems, and now works for BC Engineering Co., and their BC Jaeger, which is essentially an improved MPS AA-12, is up for grabs! EDIT: My readers have of course noticed what I did not, that the BC Jaeger is a semiauto only variant of the fully automatic AA-12. Thanks, guys! Since the AA-12 shotgun fires at the relatively slow rate of 300 rpm, there's no need for a semi-auto setting on the AA-12's selector switch. Any skilled operator can easily control the round output via trigger control, including single shots and double taps.

We've all seen the FPS Russia video of the fake Russian firing the AA12 one-handed while he looks at the camera with his best 'I'm a confused douchenozzle' face. Most of us have seen other videos touting the awesomeness that is the AA12: lightweight, simple design, maintenance-free, virtually immune to dirt/fouling, and of course the ultra-light recoil (for a 12ga).

So with all this stuff going for it, why is the design limited to FA-only? It seems to me that all the features that make it an excellent military weapon would also make it an excellent sporting firearm. Hunters would certainly appreciate a lighter gun to schlep through the wilderness, as well as a gun that is unlikely to have problems if it is dropped in the mud. Skeet/trap/clays/whatever shooters would also benefit from the reduced weight, not to mention the lower recoil would allow faster 2nd shots.

I'm not a shotgun guy, but if I was, I'd really want a semiautomatic version of this gun. Is there any particular reason why the manufacturer has declined to produce one?

The Auto Assault-12 (AA-12), originally designed and known as the Atchisson Assault Shotgun, is a shotgun developed in 1972 by Maxwell Atchisson. The most prominent feature is reduced recoil. The current 2005 version has been developed over 18 years since the patent was sold to Military Police Systems, Inc. The original design was the basis of several later weapons, including the USAS-12combat shotgun. The weapon is fully automatic only. However, it fires at a rate of 300 rounds per minute, allowing it to fire one round at a time with brief trigger pulls. It is fed from either an 8-shell box magazine, or a 20- or 32-shell drum magazine.

History[edit]

In 1987, Max Atchisson sold the rights of the AA-12 to Jerry Baber of Military Police Systems, Inc., Piney Flats, Tennessee.[4] MPS in turn developed the successor simply known as Auto Assault-12, which was redesigned over a period of 18 years with 188 changes and improvements to the original blueprint, modifications included changing the AA-12 from blowback- to gas-operated with a locked breech. 'When the bolt flies back after firing to cycle another round, around 80% of what would normally be felt as recoil is absorbed by a proprietary gas system. A recoil spring grabs another 10%, leaving the final recoil a remarkable 10% of the normal recoil for a 12-gauge round—so you can point the AA-12 at a target and unload the full magazine without significant loss of accuracy'.[5] MPS also teamed up with Action Manufacturing Company, and Special Cartridge Company to combine the gun with FRAG-12 High-Explosive ammunition into a multifunction weapon system.

The weapon was lightened to 4.76 kg (10.5 lb) and shortened to 966 mm (38.0 in) but retained the same barrel length. The CQB model has a 13-inch barrel, and is half a pound lighter than the regular model. Uncommon in other automatic shotguns, the AA-12 fires from an open bolt, a feature more commonly found in submachine guns, as well as heavy and squad-level machine guns. It uses 8-round box, 20-round drum, or 32-round drum magazines, as opposed to the original 5-round box magazine. Due to the abundant use of stainless steel and the designed clearance for fouling, MPS has stated that the weapon requires little to no cleaning or lubrication.[6] The designer states that cleaning is required after 10,000 rounds.[7]

Ammunition[edit]

Recover my files full 64 bit. The AA-12 can use different types of 2 3/4-inch, 12-gauge ammunition such as buckshot, slugs, or less-lethal rubber stun batons.

Usage[edit]

In 2004, ten firing models of the AA-12 were produced and demonstrated to the United States Marine Corps.

The HAMMER unmanned defense system by More Industries proposed to use dual-mounted AA-12s on the H2X-40 turret.[8]Neural Robotics also wanted to mount the weapon on their AutoCopter unmanned aerial vehicle.[9][10]
