Non-Toxic Bakeware Solutions. Aluminum is a heavy metal controversially linked to neurological disease, including Alzheimer’s. But non-stick and coated aluminum bakeware is an even worse option, since they offgass toxic fumes when heated.
How Much Heavy Metal Fumes Are Released While Baking A Motherboard In Windows 10
So I got this old Dell Dimension 4300 from a friend, and the product key for windows XP was taped to the side.
The computer has been sitting outside for a few weeks on his porch so it was sheltered from direct rain but it had a lot of dust and pollen on and in it. (and a dead stinkbug between the ram cards.) After cleaning it up I noticed that some of the capacitors are leaking and bulged. Not all of them but a some. See pictures
My friend told me that the HDD was bad in it and sure enough when I booted it up it wouldn't get past the BIOS due to HDD failure.
I popped in a live OS CD (a version of Gparted) and the computer booted fine.
Now I'm not sure if really the HDD has failed or perhaps a circuit that is connected to the HDD isn't getting enough power or something else.
Any way I'm getting a bit off topic. I don't really care if I run this computer into the ground because I'm pretty sure there isn't anything worthwhile to salvage out of this computer. (If I'm wrong please let me know)
If it's not powerful enough to run a small 4-8 man tf2 server then I'm just going to give it to my friend. My friend already said that they don’t care of the computer breaks on them.
But I don't want to give it to my friend if leaking capacitors can cause any sickness such as lung irritation, cancer etc. My friend already has asthma and I don’t want to make it any worse.
